This website is dedicated to my personal experiences and thoughts on materials science. It is meant to be a monument to my progress through the field and help me think through complex concepts.
What is materials science? Materials science is the study of materials and their properties. That means us materials scientists study how the subatomic affects the atomic, how the atomic affects the molecular, and how the molecular induces incredible properties in the material. And everything else in between, of course.
About Me
Hi, my name is Brandon Sweet, and I’m currently a rising senior at the Bronx High School of Science. I was first interested in materials science when I saw a video online of someone creating rubies in their microwave (although I couldn’t put a name to the science). I was amazed by how two dull powders and some plasma could create something so brilliant. I tried this experiment and created two tiny rubies, cementing my love for materials science.
